What is A.A.? The A.A. Preamble©

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

If your group is considering submitting a Proposed Agenda Item (PAI) for the 2027 General Service Conference (GSC). All submissions should be received on or before September 30, 2026, 11:59 pm. Submissions received after this deadline will be considered for the 78th General Service Conference.

Submitting a Proposed Agenda Item (PAI)

The use of the PAI online form is preferable to fillable PDFs, and GSO is hoping to encourage submissions through the form. This is the fastest and most accurate method for submitting a Proposed Agenda Item. However, we do not want to discourage involvement. If a fillable PDF is necessary, please email the PDF to: paisubmissions@aa.org.
